LUI Che Woo Prize - Prize for World Civilisation Laureate Public Lecture 2017 - Positive Energy Prize

Abstract of the Lecture

“Societal change cannot be forced, societal change best occurs through positive experiences.”

Since its launch in 1960, the Paralympic Games have grown into one of the world’s biggest and most important global sporting events. Through showcasing the outstanding capabilities and performances of Paralympians to a global audience, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) uses the Paralympic Games as a platform to change the public’s perceptions towards people with an impairment, and drive social inclusion.

Using the principles of the Paralympic Movement as a blueprint and the success of the Paralympic Games as a model, IPC President Sir Philip Craven will share his belief on how world leaders can help foster a more inclusive world through positive experiences.
